As of 01/01/2025 VK4NGA Digital Voice Systems has merged with VK Direct, which is owned by my son, Lee. Lee brings with him a wealth of knowledge in website design, business management, online retail and product development.
You may well already have bought from Lee. Many of my customers think that VK Direct is my business but its not. Lee started the business in 2020 as there was no Australian based business that specialised in tested and warrantied MMDVM/hotspot components and kits. Lee’s business filled that space, offering a wide range of components and kits. Lee and I are always set up beside each other at hamfests so you may have already met him.
You’ll see the introduction of new products along the way. On the VK Direct website you’ll already see the introduction of new products such as antennas, RF connectors and specialised hand tools.
Both websites also have multiple payment options available.
To test the market, in 2024 I introduced the DuraNode AllStar kits which proved to be big sellers. With my kits I have focused heavily on including quality parts and components, along with the instructions, which comprise of online pictorial and videos. I advertise “World’s Best Instructions” and I really mean that. I’ve invested many hours in writing the instructions and recording videos. Plus I provide my custom version of the Hamvoip software with all of the tricky configurations already done. With continuous feedback from customers I’ll keep making improvements to the instructions.
Our combined focus for 2025 and beyond will be on providing Australia’s best place for premium digital voice products and other interesting ham radio related products. Back in 2019 when I started there was a “hunger” for Aussie amateurs to buy ready to QSO hotspots, so I filled that space. But now that space has changed as many people want to build their own digital voice hardware, hence the introduction of DIY kits.
VK4NGA Digital Voice Systems and VK Direct will still continue to run with 2 websites but with different products available.
