Description

DuraNode Simplex 70cm or 2m FM Node kit for AllStar.

Photo shows the kit as it comes. this kit requires assembly – last 2 photos show a fully assembled node just so you can see the finished product.

This kit is hardware only – SOFTWARE IS NOT PROVIDED ON THE MICRO SD CARD.

This Node is a Raspberry Pi hosted AllStar RF Node using the AllStarlink network.

The DuraNode is similar to the traditional “hotspot” in that it runs on a Raspberry Pi with an RF hat, and is connected to the AllStarlink network via the internet. The only difference is that the hat uses an FM radio chip, hence no need for a digital radio.

Any FM transceiver with CTCSS that operates in the ham bands can access the node.

DuraNode Simplex FM Node hardware kit:

This is a ham construction kit designed by VK4NGA that implements a Raspberry Pi hosted AllStar RF Node. This kit is to suit the Raspberry Pi 3B/3B+ or 4B series.

Assembly Skill Level: Intermediate – only 2 solder joints required on the bottom of the Raspberry Pi board, plus PCB to case assembly.

Computer Skill Level: Advanced – SSH ACCESS IS HOW YOU CONFIGURE THE NODE. Also the node has to be connected via Ethernet for initial configuration setup.

You’ll also need a Micro SD card reader to write the Hamvoip (recommended) or ASL software (which are both free downloads) to your Micro SD card.

Kit Contents:

Genuine VK4NGA DuraNode UHF or VHF FM RF Hat – Programmed (and tested) with a default frequency of UHF – 441.250MHz with 91.5 CTCSS or VHF – 145.350MHZ with 91.5 CTCSS – these parameters can be changed by you via SSH access.

Custom Australian made VK4NGA acrylic case kit to suit the Raspberry Pi 3B/3B+ or 4B with screws/washers/nuts.

Hex key to tighten case screws.

Set of 4 silicone stick on feet for the case (not pictured).

USB to Hat connector cable to connect the hat to the Raspberry Pi – goes between the PCB’s and is soldered to the underside of the Pi.

Rubber USB port blanking plug (not pictured).

SMA stubby antenna.

Heatsink for the Raspberry Pi processor.

Quality class 10 Micro SD card.

Ferrite filter for the PSU.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUPPLY:

A Raspberry Pi 3B/3B+ or 4B 1gb

A power supply, I recommend the genuine Raspberry Pi PSU.
